Sr. Beata

I was in Ramnee way back in the 60s and Mother Beata , as we called
the sisters 'mother'then, was an important part of the life of every
girl in the middle set... firm, loving, a wonderful teacher of
hygiene, good manners, home skills and discipline. We were scared of
her and we loved her.
I met her again in 1998 when I visited Ramnee with a group of
friends.
her passing away is a loss to us all, apart of our childhood passes
away with her. But I know that wherever she is she'll be praying for
her children and we'll forever remember her
May her soul rest in peace

It is amazing to know that Sr. Beata has been around for the students in 1948 to us students of the batch of 1998.

She was a very loving dear person. I tried to keep in touch with her till the end. I had promised her that I will get my husband to some visit her, which I did. She was very happy to meet us. I met her last in June 2005.

I visited Nainital a few times after that, but couldn't get myself to go and visit her and see her sick and in so much pain.

In my last visit I had asked her if she had been happy in India and she said, that it was a life well-lived!

I know that wherever she is, she is surrounded by love and peace!

I am so sorry to hear sbout Sr. Beata she was such awonderful person. The love she gave us was so much ,and to think of it our batch was one of the most mischieviouos . My tears keep rolling down as I write this ,and she must be the last of the German sisters. I was put in her dorm in the 4th grade that was my 2nd yr in Ramnee .May her soul rest in peace , she was a great human being and we loved her dearly and even remember her telling us to go to sleep and to stop whispering when the lights are switched off.

It was really sad to learn of the sad demise of Sr (Mother) Beata. Sr Beata had been with us when I and my brother, Anil, were in Ramsee 1946-1948. I had often visited her in the convent, whenever I happened to be in Naini tal. I and my wife, had seen her last in 2004 and she did remember looking after us in the dormitory. She mended our socks and looked after us when we were as small as 5-6 years of age. I am sure I will miss her a lot when I next go to Ramsee Convent.

Sr Dominica

SR.DOMINICA, WE MISS YOU!!!

On 23rd April when we celebrated your 70 years inreligious life, little did we realize that this would be the last celebration with you. You were almost carried to the Chapel on your feast day. Your illness made you weaker and weaker that you had to be carried to the hospital on 13th October. On 16th although the doctor declared that you would live for another 2 or 3months. We hoped to bring you back home and to be around you when the final hour strikes. God willed differently and you slipped gently and solemnly on17th early morning hours with Sr.Sherly the only family member to assist you. Without a storm or struggle the flame of your life was off and the bookof your life closed to be with your Father in heaven. We are sure that your earthly father ushered you to the throne of God for your request to God our Father was recorded to meet face to face who left you as a baby.

We miss your presence moving in Ramnee smiling at one, inquiring the well being of another, selling cards and receiving mite for your special FRIENDS lepers from Rajpura. You are a role model of livingnlife fully and sharing life whole heartedly. We will miss you much more when the students of past drop in and ask for Sr.Dominica. 68 years you served theIndian children many of whom are grand mothers or mothers today. Your innovative ways will challenge us,who have lived with you. In your 70’s you learned the library system and you managed it perfectly to the end. The legacy you have left behind will be cherished by all of us all, your sisters.

Dear Sr.Dominica , we thank your dedicated services, gentle ways and your love for poor. We will continue the good work you have begun. The Rajpura friends will be the friends of Ramnee. The presence of the lepers of Rajpura at your funeral services speaks volumes of your love and services for the poor and the outcast. In you they witnessed Jesus walking in the roads of Rajpura. The cherished memories of your life have become the history of Ramnee community engraved in the hearts of your sisters.

Domi, pray for us, your sisters.

Passed away... no more.. How can it be?
And I wonder why did I not go back to school more often
She was always there. Had always to be there- feebler maybe with the passing years, but there- potterign about, being ageless, timeless, strict- and yet so loving. A lilting accent, gentle hands :"Child.." and an anguished:"what have you done to that.." which hurt... more than a chiding would have.
Dust, soon, cold and still..
And memories, nostalgia, stirrings, Maybe if I never go back to the library I will be able to believe she is still there....

Sister Dominica has passed on....seems so strange to think of her as no more...always thought I would go back to school one day and introduce my daughter to her...tell her that it was Sr. Dominica who was my class 10 teacher...who had ignited the passion for shakespear, encouraged us to read beyond the lines , to taste the flavour of the authors language....
Alas its been 18 years and I haven't still managed to go back to school.....back to Ramnee...back to Sr. Dominica....the best years of my life....
Sr. Dominica...Dommi as we all so lovingly called her....was a real lady...classy, elegant and refined....so gentle was her manner and being..so passionate was she about her class, teaching and ofcourse books....
I can still close my eyes and picture her gentle smiling face....she will always occupy a very special place in my heart....my God Bless her dear soul and keep her forever in his care....
My deepest condolences to all the Ramneeites (sisters, teachers, students old and new)......

For whom the bell tolls

"No man is an island, entire of itself; everyman is a piece of the continent, a part of themain. If a clod be washed away by the sea,Europe is the less, as well as if a promontorywere, as well as if a manor of thy friend's orof thine own were: any man's death diminishesme, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee."

John Donne
